ONLINE MIXING AND MASTERING SERVICES

Hit and Run Recording's mixing and mastering services offer a most affordable way for making the recordings you have produced with your audio gear to sound their best. Imagine your recordings being taken to a new level and start making it a reality!

Mastering Service Overview

Mastering is the final stage of the recording process where the tonal balances and volume levels of a collection of stereo mixes of songs are raised up to commercially consistent and accepted levels. The mastering process can also influence problematic muddy and/or harsh frequencies of a mix, increase definition and punch, depth, width and fullness. Price: $35 per song (multi-song discount rate - see price chart for details).

Mixing Service Overview

Compared to mastering a stereo file of a song, mixing a multitrack recording offers much more control in creating the best results with a recording. For example, if the stereo mix has a bass guitar with a problematic frequency, a mastering engineer will end up altering the low end punch frequencies of the kick drum while addressing the problematic bass guitar frequencies during the mastering process. It's much better to address the problematic bass guitar frequencies with the right equalizer and settings on the bass guitar track itself during the mixdown. A better mix naturally allows for a better master. This is what our mixing service is all about: get the mix right first, then proceed to get that mix mastered at the mastering facility of your choice (hopefully you will consider H&R!). With the mixing service, an experienced professional (Steve Carr) who has the knack and an objective ear, will mix your multi-track recordings using the right combinations of analog and digital gear to: equalize, compress, set levels, sidechain, pan, subgroup, effect, and all of the other things that go into making a great mix. For more information, see the Mixing Service Details section below. Price: $90 per song (multi-song discount rate - see price chart for details).

Mixing AND Mastering Services Combined  - Get your recordings mixed AND mastered by a professional with years of experience at a bundled discount rate.  Price: $120 per song (multi-song discount rate - see price chart for details).

Mixing Service Details

If you would like the tracks you recorded at your studio to be mixed by Hit and Run Recording (Steve Carr), here is how the process works:

  1. Submit a completed "Project Form": After you have submitted this Project Form, you will receive a mixing confirmation email with a price quote for your project based on this Price Chart. The confirmation email will also have information about delivering your multitrack files to us.
  2. Prepare your files to be sent in - Please read: Preparing Your Files For Mixing
  3. Deliver your multitrack files: After you receive the mixing confirmation email, you can upload the folders that contain the multitrack files for each of your songs. Each folder should be "compressed" (zipped) before uploading. You can use any type of file transfer service such as DropBox, Google Drive, WeTransfer, etc.
  4. Payment: Payment of the price quoted in the confirmation email can be securely made at the bottom of this page or on the "Booking&Info" page. Upon receipt of the payment and the zipped folders containing the multitrack wav files for your project's songs, the services would be completed within 10 business days and you would receive an email with a download link of your mixes for review.
  5. Review of mixes: Upon your confirmation via email that the MP3 review mixes are good and you want no mix modifications, you will be emailed a download link to your 24 bit mixed files. If you want any mix revisions, your mix notes should include the song title, and if applicable, the minute:second counter readouts, e.g."add more reverb to the guitar solo between 1:30 and 1:45."
  6.  If you selected both our mixing and mastering services on your project form, upon completion of your project, you will receive an industry standard "DDP" (Disc Description Protocol) folder. DDP is the new standard way of delivering a CD master to a duplication facility. It is the digital equivalent of a physical CD master. The folder we will send you includes a DDP player that allows you to listen the 16bit, 44.1kHz WAV CD master and also extract the individual tracks as WAV files or MP3s.
  7. Please contact us if you have any questions about Hit and Run Recording's Mixing Service.
